Is there any interest in having a public page for each player? They would only be editable by the person who created the page (the player who's page it was), and could be used to document your alt names, guild position, or anything else that you wanted.

Player Pages by TreEssEcTreEssEc, 23 Aug 2011 15:24

Hmm. I added an MRA logo to the main page, but for some reason it won't show up. If anyone knows how to get it working properly, have at it - the file's attached to the page.

Can someone tell me about crusades and realm quests? Are they they same thing? I want to add that info, along with hero quests and NPQs.

Also, I want to add a Guilds page, but I need info. What I want to do is a short entry for each guild: a paragraph or two on the history, one for membership (special restrictions, etc.), and anything else that might be worth noting.

I updated the Monster Index and cleaned up the Namer Index. Both namer lists (mine and the new one) had names the other one was missing, so between them I think we got a fairly complete list. Since there's a good deal of discrepancy between my list and the new one (some levels overall, and a number of locations in Jalzabad), I've left the old list up for the time being (it's still here) until we can get things straightened out. There's a bunch of stuff at the bottom (Undead Caverns), but since I don't know what kind of undead they are, I can't place them.

Easy enough to put together Maranda and Persepolis. I tried to do the entire Valadia and Jalzabad as one map, but had to split them up when my computer was being a total pain and crashing when i was trying to do more cutting and pasting.

That is your version - check the info. I'm not sure why it's so big, though.

As far as creating a large map… Photoshop works (of course); I think you can use Paint too (I know you can C&P parts of images, so it should work). The only problematic part is getting Maranda and Persepolis placed properly relative to everything else, unless you've already done that?

Coolio. The Tekken file Notch posted has a ton of maps in it, including OMR, so we're good there (BTW, I don't know how to make the jpg small… can you look at those when you get a chance and maybe fix them?).

I also found out that the scb file on the dump page has all of my old work in it! I got bored and mapped most of MRA with SCB. This might save you some time, if I got any areas you didn't cover; the sector map lists what each cell contains for easy reference. I don't think I did any underground dungeons - I was just going for a ground-level world map.

Kerrick, you do know i went through and remapped Krell. And it WAS on here. I didn't finish BKE, only cause most floors other than the bottom are the same. Tekken had missed a square here or there with some of his maps. And yea, if yall can tell me what to use to splice things together, i could have a world map (at least of the main floor) done up in a few days.

Yea, i'm still working on it somewhat. Kinda got busy with work. I've got most of Hobs done, still need a few emblems for the lord. I figured i'd just do the top and bottom floors of IUN, as the ones in the middle are basically the same. I've got OMR somewhere. Haven is already on the site under towns.

Re: The MRA Map Project by Chef_IPGChef_IPG, 23 Oct 2010 04:02

Is anyone still working on this? I've got a list of maps we still need:

  • Aphelion
  • DOC
  • IUN
  • OMR
  • The Mound

I also started rebuilding my Excel map, just because I can (except this time it's in Open Office, since I can't get my version of Home and Office to work on my computer *gnash*). I figured out how to use background images (copied from the maps, of course) pasted into individual cells, so the map has actual graphics instead of just plain colors. I've only been working on it for a couple days; Haven is mapped, but I'm still adding backgrounds, but it looks really cool so far. The beauty of a map like this is that it's much easier to edit, but it takes a little longer to make.

Re: The MRA Map Project by KerrickKerrick, 17 Oct 2010 22:14

I've got the locations done, for the most part. I moved all the maps from the Maps page to the individual location pages, set everything up with the same format, and generally cleaned it all up. Since there's no further need for the Maps page, I moved all the remaining files to the Dump page and deleted maps - we can use Dump for random file storage.

Re: Site redesign/organization by KerrickKerrick, 17 Oct 2010 22:08

Rock on. There's some stuff there I've never seen. I found the Namers stuff from my site (it was hidden on the Namers page), but I searched through the page list and couldn't find anything relating to monsters. It may yet turn up - I'm still finding stuff scattered all over the place.

Tekken's map is old - it's the same one that's been floating around forever - but he's got jpegs of individual areas, some of which we don't have on the site (the Krell areas, Dunsmore Keep, and maybe a couple others). Nice find. We could probably do the same with Chef's map, if we got everything put together. Wikidot does support HTML, so we could also probably get it posted here once it's done.

UCM_S_10 looks like a map of the Mound, but since I've never been there, I can't say for sure.

Re: Site redesign/organization by KerrickKerrick, 16 Oct 2010 00:03

Alright, I've dumped everything. Check out the data dump for a couple "new" maps, a little bit of information, and a very cool interactive HTML map.

I take it back, I have them on the HD but not on the wiki. I'll go ahead and dump all of this information onto some page that can be sorted through

On my old HD i have all the data that I had been given by various people, and 90% of the data that I put on this site were copy/pastes from your old site. I'm fairly sure I'd copied that crits page over (and I vaguely remember seeing it here) but it's not linked from anywhere, so we may have to hunt it down.

Ooh. I remembered I had some paper maps of MRA, so I dug around in my boxes and finally found them (I used them as working copies to transfer the data to Excel). It's pretty impressive, done on 1/8th graph paper and partially colored, but unfortunately there's not much beyond the old world map already posted on the site - I don't have anything south of Salazad or north of Clysmort, even though the Excel map had most of that stuff (I think by that time I was simply mapping in Excel as I played). I do, however, have what are most likely the only existing maps (besides Meno's) of the trog caves and the Badlands, though they're both incomplete.

Re: Site redesign/organization by KerrickKerrick, 15 Oct 2010 04:20

That's what I'm doing now. I finally got all the character pages done - there's a ton of stuff scattered all over the place. Could someone bug Meno to write up entries for druids, thieves, and whatever else has been added lately?

Oh, here are the other two: Mages and Rogues. I'd like to do a five-paragraph entry for each:

P1: Intro, what the character does.

P2: Stats - which are best, which are required.

P3: Combat.

P4: Starting out.

P5: Long-term build planning.

I based it on this, since some of them already have it, thanks to Meno; it's a good template to use, IMO.

Oh, and do you (or anyone else) have copies of the stuff from my old site? If you do, can you upload it? I'll get it converted to wikicode and posted here. I had a huge list of monsters, I know, and a big table for all the materials. I really wish I still had my old Excel file; it had a (mostly complete) map of MRA. :(

Re: Site redesign/organization by KerrickKerrick, 14 Oct 2010 01:04

Go figure an old MRA fan would be into D&D :P

I was thinking a very similar thing, but in the form of formatting. There's lots and lots of data here but a lot of it is an eyesore. Chef is doing an awesome job mapping the world (and making it look a whole lot larger than I ever remembered), Tres and Menace were kicking a lot of butt as well. It's a bit much to expect them to gather all the data, post it, AND make it look pretty. Therefore, when I'm bored at home (or work) or I have several minutes to spare, I'll go ahead and peruse the sidebar links and try to organize the massive amounts of data collected.

Okay, I whipped together a few pages for the classes. I took some material from the manual and combined it with the other info about the classes to provide a more complete overview. Here are the pages:

Creating a Character, Clerics, Fighters, Mages, Rogues

I also reorganized the sidebar - it's much shorter and less cluttered, since all the sublinks are now on the top bar. Check it out, let me know what you think.

Re: Site redesign/organization by KerrickKerrick, 12 Oct 2010 00:44

Hey guys,

Great job on collecting and posting all this information. The site needs a little bit of cleanup, though (and by a little, I mean quite a bit lol). But that's where I come in. Here's my other Wikidot site. As you can see, there's a ton of content there, but you can flip through a few pages and get a general feel for things. I want to bring some of that over here:

  • Organize the pages into categories and add breadcrumbs navigation (we have a few pages already added).
  • Add CSS (I uploaded the stuff I use on my page, but we can change it if anyone objects; CSS is really easy once you learn how to do it).
  • Reorganize the sidebar with just the main pages.
  • Expand the top nav bar, where all the subpages are in the drop-down menus.
  • Break up the manual - instead of listing all the sections on their own page, they can be on the relevant page (for example, put the Items section on the Items main page, and put the subpages as links from there - it's also better for site organization).
  • Clean up and edit individual pages as necessary.

Instead of making changes willy-nilly, I'll make up some preview pages (I keep text backups for my site, because it's far easier to edit those and then C&P the text than to do in online) for everyone to check out. I don't think anyone will mind too much, but it's always best to ask first. :)

Site redesign/organization by KerrickKerrick, 10 Oct 2010 18:37

Hey guys. I just got my notification as well (and I finally got admin access!). I hardly ever visit my other wiki, but I still use it for file storage, so I happened across it. I'm glad to know <i>someone</i> saved all my old files… :D Anyway, I've got all day to kill, so I'll play around with some stuff like adding CSS and breadcrumbs to make the site pretty.
